ABOUT PARA 13.2
Para 13.2 Examination is a fast-track internal promotion mechanism used across Public Sector General Insurance Companies (PSGICs)—New India Assurance, United India Insurance, Oriental Insurance and National Insurance.
The exam enables eligible assistants or subordinate staff to move into the Officer (Scale-I) cadre, subject to fulfilling specific service conditions laid down under Para 13.2 of the Promotion Policy.
It is conducted centrally by each company in an online mode and consists of objective-type questions, designed to assess the candidate’s understanding of insurance fundamentals, office procedures, policy servicing, claim processes, customer service, regulatory framework, company rules, CDA Rules, HR policies, and general awareness relevant to the insurance sector. The level of this exam is generally moderate in difficulty but demands accurate practical knowledge of day-to-day office work.
The selection process includes written exam + service record marks, and in some companies, interviews are not mandatory.
Candidates who qualify under Para 13.2 receive promotion to Officer Scale-I (Administrative Officer), subject to vacancy norms .
