About GIPSA Officer Promotion Exam (P.E. 2027-28)
The GIPSA Officer Pre-Promotional Examination is a competitive internal examination conducted by the National Insurance Academy, Pune on behalf of General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA) for officers working in PSU General Insurance Companies including The New India Assurance Company Limited, United India Insurance Company Limited, Oriental Insurance Company Limited, and National Insurance Company Limited.
This departmental examination enables eligible officers in Scale I, Scale II, Scale III, and Scale IV to get promoted to higher officer scales through the Fast Track Channel under Para 14A & 14B of the Promotion Policy for Officers, 2006.
Latest Update: For Promotion Exercise 2027-28, the Pre-Promotional qualifying examination is scheduled in December 2026 in the afternoon shift from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The reporting time at the examination venue is 1:00 PM sharp. The entry gate will be closed at 1:45 PM and no late entry will be permitted.
Important Note: From the 2019-20 Promotion Exercise onwards, the written examination is conducted only for candidates applying under the Fast Track Channel. This exam is essential for merit-based promotions and ensures uniform selection across all GIPSA member companies. The examination is conducted entirely in online mode through Computer-Based Test (CBT) at designated centers across India.

ā ļø Special Provision for Disabilities: Candidates with benchmark disabilities (Blindness, Locomotor disability affecting both arms, Cerebral Palsy, or Physical limitation to write) certified by CMO/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent will receive 40 minutes compensatory time (total 160 minutes). Submit button enables after 120 minutes.

The GIPSA Pre-Promotional Examination consists of Seven (7) Sections. Candidates must choose and attempt any Four (4) Sections of their choice. Each section covers comprehensive topics relevant to PSU General Insurance operations.
